Why choose Shanghai for your conference?

Shanghai is China’s commercial capital. A vibrant, multi-cultural city that rivals any of the great world capitals. It prides itself on being at the forefront of technology, the arts, construction and finance. The city is testament to the vision of the future the Chinese are building, a future which will be showcased in the 2010 World Expo to be held in this great city.

In 1990, China chose Shanghai to drive the country's economic progress. It responded with a booming construction industry, increased private businesses and growing foreign investments. The city's resurgence in economic prosperity is best exemplified in the development of the Pudong New Area.

Previously consisting of sleepy farmland, Pudong has become a rapidly growing commercial district home to offices and facilities of many of the Fortune 500 companies. Shanghai also boasts a Formula One track that is second to none, A tennis Center which is an architectural marvel and the world’s fastest mass land transport -The Maglev (magnetic levitation train). When the International Trade Center opens It will be the world’s tallest building at 101 stories.

With its economic progress, Shanghai continues to undergo a renaissance of its arts and culture. The impressive Shanghai Museum and the architecturally striking Shanghai Grand Theater are just two examples of Shanghai's cultural rebirth. In addition, sites such as the Confucian Temple have been completely renovated and the city is attracting art and artists from all over the world. Suzhou Creek, previously an industrial area now houses some of the most avante garde modern galleries found anywhere in the world.

Every major hotel chain has “signature” hotels in Shanghai, often one on the West and the East side of the River. With world class convention centers, some of the world’s great restaurant names, entertainment hubs in redeveloped traditional areas such as “Xintiandi” and a highly educated population base with an international outlook this city is fast, efficient and very sexy.

Shanghai has regained its mantle as Asia's most cosmopolitan city.
